    The patriot act was passed by the United States government in 2001 and it is also known as one of the most controversial acts of the United States for breaching its civil liberties.

    Explanation:

    The United States government passed the patriot act in 2001 in response to the attack of the 9/11 incident. Under these laws, many civil liberties were also affected by it because of its strict norms such as, now the government can track any private communication, monitor private emails, calls, and the Internet without any permission. This act increased the ability of the government to collect information and increase executive powers. But this act also breaching the right of privacy of an individual that is why it is known as a controversial act.
