Describe the life if girls in ancient Athens

Women spent most of their lives in their house. They weaved, cooked, trained the slaves, sewed, and raised children. Women also had their own room in the house that men could not enter. For a house guest to enter the women's quarters was considered an act of disrespect.

Female children in classical Athens were not formally educated; rather, their mothers would have taught them the skills they would need to run a household. They married young, often to much older men. When they married, Athenian women had two main roles: to bear children, and to run the household.
