From the excerpt we can learn about weather conditions: the weather is described to be cloudy on wednesday, and sunny on thursday.

We also learn about the inhabitants' weather preference: they did not like the cloudy weather, and did not start the party until next day, when it got sunny.

Finally, we also learn about the culture of the inhabitants: their parties are more like a collection of enternatining activities instead of a more monolithic activity.
