Why does the U. S. have a better chance of maintaining long-term strong relations with India than it does with China?

    Currently, both India as well as the U. S. have partnerships with China which have elements of collaboration, rivalry, and, possibly, conflict - but in varying levels. Every nation has a mixed approach to involving China, while planning for a change for the worsened in Chinese actions. Every sees its China approach as a position for another.

    Possibly, the U. S. has had three imperatives for a much more constructive partnership with India and promoting its increase: vital interest, particularly in China's upswing; national interest; and common democratic principles. Indian leaders accept American worries as to the existence of China's growth are accountable in some of India's attraction.
