These rights are natural rights (moral ones) and conventional rights as created by the society in which that person lives in (different values). The opposite of rights based ethics are utilitarian ethics, which are based on the maximization of "good outcomes" and minimizations of "bad outcomes." An example of a rights-based ethics is: The right to freely practice a religion of choice; an example of an utilitarian ethics is: that it would be acceptable to torture someone to gain information to save others as it would have a positive net outcome.
