Slavery was not as widespread in New England as it was in the Southern Colonies. Why not?

    Because New England, which is in the north area, lack large plantation and agricultural operations

    Explanation:

    Slavery was not widespread in New England, compared to the Southern part of the America, because the area lacks Lacking large-scale plantations, and agricultural operations such as rice plantations, cotton plantation and the massive tobacco farms.

    Using slaves as the labour force on the farms, the slavery was at a full blown rates in South and mid Atlantic region, whereas, it was not in the New England.

    Other reasons includes:

    1. The presence of indentured servitude in New England

    2. Slower in acceptance of African slavery as the alternative to local white slaves
