Who do you think had the tougher job, union or confederacy, and why?

    Confederacy had few factories to produce weapons, few railroads to move troops/supplies, few supplies, small population, more than 1/3 of the population was enslaved or poor. The Union had an industrial economy, where - as the Confederacy had an economy based on agriculture. The Union had most of the natural resources, like coal, iron, and gold, and also a well-developed rail system. Therefore, I feel the confederacy had the tougher job. They had to fight harder for everything they had/had to do.
