What drastic effect did contact with Herenando de Soto and his men have

on the Native Americans? *

The Native Americans left their lands to travel back to Spain with the conquistadors.

The explorers knew not to disrupt the natives, so they avoid contact as they traveled

through the new land.

Hernando De Soto and his men lost their gold in several battles with the native

warriors.

Through contact and interactions with the explorers, some even violent, a large

portion of the native population died due to disease and war.
