Starvation for the early colonist was one of the biggest factors in their early issues. Most of the time the soil was bad and many people didn't know how to farm the land. The colonist did have good housing as they use timber and other available resources. For native Americans they had developed three-sister farming in the north east and had many hunting techniques. They never really had an issue with starvation and housing.
