Why did people have to make clothes and shelter in the mesolithic era

Mesolith or the Middle stone age came just after the Ice Age and people were migrating and settling onto new lands. They had to learn how to shield from the cold weather and stay cool in the summer months. They also developed neew tools which would increase their chances of survival.
