    The Jim crow laws and segregation were the laws put up by the Government that were discriminatory against the blacks.

    Explanation:

    During the period after the Civil war the country saw a brief period of time where the African american population got to have some amount of freedom but it was quickly overturned with the harsh Jim Crow laws that kept the right to vote away from them and much cruelly also restricted movement.

    The laws on segregation further worsened the divide in the people and this was done to segregate the black population from the white spaces compete.
