Answer: Somatoform disorders are a group of psychological disorders in which a patient experiences physical symptoms such as pain but there is no underlying medical or neurological reason to explain what they are experiencing. An example of a somatoform disorder would be hypochondria where the patient believes 100% that there is something or many things seriously wrong with their health but there is no medical evidence to prove it. Dissociative disorders are a group of psychological disorders in which a patient experiences dissociation from themselves either mentally or physically or both. This means that they involuntarily break away from or have a disconnection from their thoughts, identity, consciousness and memory. An example would be Dissociative identity disorder or what used to be known as multiple personality disorder.
