Teepees were made of buffalo hide fastened around very long wooden poles, designed in a cone shape. Tepees were warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Although these structures were highly mobile, the design still provided a solid shelter for the American Indians. Teepees provided great mobility for hunting buffalo and elk, because they could be dismantled and reconstructed very quickly.
