Monica has always been told how beautiful she is. As she reaches age 50, she still feels like she did when she was 20, but she is increasingly concerned about her appearance and is experiencing considerable distress related to her self-concept. Why is she having so much difficulty

    Most women in our society are concerned about their appearances and looks throughout their life as they tends towards having youthful identity. There can also experience some inconsistency between how they feel about self-appearance and what they appear in mirror. This activities leads to distress and tension in women.

    According to the question, Monica is facing stress because she want to have youthfulness in her appearance as she was always complimented for her beauty. Thus, she still feels like 20 years old even when she is 50 years but inconsistencies in her physical appearance causes distress.
