When it comes to the Salem witch trials, the emotional factor can be drawn from the economic factor in a way that economic instability and the wealth gap made people more prone to emotions of envy and jealousy. Women from the lower class often turned to the 'occult' and black magic that was introduced to them by the Indians. The fact is that most women who were accused of witchcraft were upper class, shows that this spiritualism was a way of punishment for inequality. On the other hand, spiritual revival that came as an influence from Europe wanted to bring some sense to the people who were lost between the sacred and the occult, and bring back the faith in the human potential and the God.
