    In 1970 Robin Murphy Williams, an American Sociologist, wrote the Core American Values, this works is considered one of the most influential works in American Sociology, it encompasses what he believes is the core values of the Americans, by analyzing their vision and history.

    At first, there where only 9: Equal opportunity, achievement and success, material comfort, activity and work, practicality and efficiency, progress, science, democracy and enterprise, and freedom.

    He then Added External Conformity, Science and Nationalism and Patriotism, Democracy, Individual Personality, and Racism and Group Superiority.

    Racisms and Group Superiority is a value added because of the superiority values connected to American culture, which lead to different types of discrimination. Williams believed this Theme was deviant but still widespread, therefore it was added.
