The Spanish language is the official language in all South American countries with a few exceptions, namely: Brazil, Guyana, Suriname and French Guine. Portuguese is the official language in Brazil. There are a great numbers of Spanish speaking countries, however, Portuguese is the major language of South America, (for the huge population it has) only by a small margin. Spanish, with just fewer speakers than Portuguese, is the second most spoken language on the region.

    Explanation:

Latin America, is a region considered or defined by its language roots, instead of territories. Because Latin America is composed of countries in North America, Central America, and South America. These countries were former Spanish and Portuguese colonies in their majority.
