    I believe the answer is: is missing a sense of purpose that gives meaning and direction to life

    This type of situation would make adam waste his precious time. Being productive does not mean making you do things for the most hours. Being productive means determining the things that you want to achieve in life, and doing efforts that you need to bring you steps closer to the achievement.
