The Zealots and Sages opposes the Romans in two very different ways.

The Zealots encouraged the people of the Judea Province to rebel against Rome and take it from the Holy Land by war. The Zealots often turned to violence, terrorism, and assassination.

Yohanen ben Zakkai, and other Sages, did not agree with the violent, war thirsty actions of the Zealots and promoted peace and negotiations instead.
