The Creek wars were fought by the Creek Indian tribe, led by their leader Tecumseh, for the purpose of keeping their lands and native culture. Of the different Native American tribes, which were known as nations, the Creek Nation, a small minority from their group, had begun to adopt the customs and way of life that European settlers had introduced. Those known as Red Sticks, were against the pressure being applied by the federal government, and also by the settlers who had begun to settle Indian territory without any legitimate claims to their territory.
