Which sentences from "the bridge" most relate to the theme that one's background often has an impact on one's beliefs? what i mean is, they don't get me. if they tried for a hundred million years, they couldn't begin to comprehend my feelings and my dreams. this isn't because they're insensitive, you understand, but because they didn't grow up here. they grew up on the other side of the globe, in india. you'd think my parents would have some understanding of how much i love music, wouldn't you? they think music is just something extra in my life. they expect me to get into an a-list college and then become a businessman or a scientist or a doctor or an engineer - that's their plan. that is what will make them proud?

We can easily notice the theme that one's background often has an impact on one's beliefs in this part of the excerpt " ... they couldn't begin to comprehend my feelings and my dreams. this isn't because they're insensitive, you understand, but because they didn't grow up here."

We can see that the narrator knows that because his parents grew up in India where they were taught their kids should go to an important college and get a degree, they cannot get what the kid really wants. And he does not blame them, he is aware that this is due to they are not capable of assimilate his music dreams as a reality just because they were not raise in that kind of environment.
