3) Active and engaged citizens must be effective media consumers in order to be able to find, monitor,

and evaluate information on political issues. The media have different venues, which have particular strengths and serve distinct and shared purposes.

Describe the steps an informed citizen should take to critically evaluate a media source.

    This sounds like a question that would probably be better for you to answer because I don't know what your textbook says.

    1. Fact-checking: Fact-checking is important because it allows you to find out if a statement is accurate or not.

    2. Bias-checking: Most politicians/journalists have biases and it's up to you to discover that bias.

    3. Propaganda: This falls in a bit with the bias statement but look for propaganda and dog-whistling. Easy to say phrases or symbols that can get a crowd excited.
