Finding it hard to live where there is less religious freedom and tolerance, he moved to Rhode Island and founded the state of Rhode Island. This place became a haven for all believers, including Jews, making sure that there is a more democratic form of authority. He made it mandatory that there is a definite separation of the church and the state, which later became the basis of the Constitution of the United States.
