Behavior therapy is used to reinforce wanted behaviors and to reduce and/or eliminate unwanted behaviors using classical and operant conditioning. It is based on observing actions and getting to the root of the cause for the unwanted behavior.

Psychoanalysis is used to treat disorders of the mind by observing and investigating conscious and subconscious thought using mind techniques such as free association and dream interpreting.
