What might happen without the responsibility of citizens to pay taxes or defend the nation

If citizens did not pay taxes, then government funding for things like roads, schools, healthcare and other things would not be possible. If no one worked in our services to protect the nation, then our country would be very easy to fall under the reign of others. We would be vulnerable to attack and unable to defend itself, in wars we would not be able to fight or protect our country.
