    Answer: George Miller

    Explanation:

George Miller in 1956 was known for 'The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two"in which he proposed that an individual's short-term memory stores information as chunks not groupw rather than individual items. He further explained that individuals can hold seven items in short-term memory, plus or minus two.

His model explained why we are able to remember mobile phone numbers, this we do by grouping the numbers into groups so that we may only need to remember the group or "chunk" making it easier to recall. For example let's say we want to remember a 12 digits number, we would create group or chunks for this numbers in this format 4567

8211 2644 3234 which makes it easily to recall the 12 digits number as a whole and not individually.

In conclusion. He explained that people tend to store information in chunks to be able to recall rather than individually because it's easier to remember that way in terms of short term memory.
