The Second Great Awakening was when people were starting to doubt their religion. They didn't know if they could really rely on your faith on religion. The reform era was a time of social activism and social reform. They wanted to take away the corruption that was found in the government. Both of them were trying to change their community and the things that were going on because they thought they were being damaged and they were both trying to fix it in their own way.
