What was the main failure of the articles of confederation that eventually led to the U. S. constitution?

    The Articles of Confederation did not establish a strong central government. The goverment was so weak and powerless it had extreme difficulties passing laws, could not impose any taxes, (and thus had no funds to run on) and couldn't even assemble an army, which proved a key part of realizing the downfalls of the Articles after Shay's Rebellion.
