How are the new immigrants that arrived in America in the late 1800s different from earlier waves of immigrants

    The earlier immigrants were from North/Western Europe and assimilated better to US culture because they had similar languages and the same religions.

    The newer immigrants in the late 1800's were from Southern and Eastern Europe (Turks and Slavs) and had different religions, languages and cultures
