    The answer is economic stability. He believed this could be achieved through education and he urged his students to strive for that goal. Though he did not openly challenge the system of segregation, he did silently support court challenges to it. Some African Americans disagreed with his views such as W. E. B. Du Bois who believe in striving for racial equality.
