What were the eastern, western and northern boundaries of Egyptian settlement?

    The northern boundary was the Mediterranean. The other boundaries were effectively the Sahara: the civilisation could only thrive on the banks of the Nile, in other places it was too dry and hot to live and grow crops (there were no clear borders: just the desert)
