Which type of insurance policy would someone get to protect others only?

    This would be a liability insurance!

    In a liability insurance, if some damage takes place, the money will not the paid to the person insured, but to a third party - here the "others" in the question. So this type of insurance protects the others from the damage that the insured person might cause.
