Economic growth usually hurts the environment because most economic growth leads to industrialism. industrialism takes raw materials from the environment in large quantities and this usually leads to a shortage (ex: trees, animals, etc.). industrialism also leads to harmful chemicals, waste, and by-products being released into the environment and harming plant life and animals life.

Economics growth's impact on a country can be both beneficial or not. That will depend on the country's policy, that is, whether it wants to have a sustainable growth or rapid growth. For instance, China's whose rapid growthwas at the expense of pollution which cost way more than the benefit obtained from the growth, decided to slow down in order to have a more planned growth.
