In the Seven Years' war, the French and British fought over the possession of North America. Battles were won and lost on both sides. When Britain gained control of India from the hands of French, they proceeded to take hold of Canada. The war was starting to favor Britain. France sought reconciliation but British Prime Minister William Pitt wanted the French give up Canada to them along with other propositions. Negotiations failed and war ensued again. Flash forward to 1763 and the Treaty of Paris, the British finally achieved to have the claims for North America.
