Certain trade barriers are put in place for different social, economic and political reasons. The prohibition of trade with a specific country imposed by a different country is known as an embargo. Embargos are in accordance to a national interest, which may be from wanting to promote the country's own products or due to some conflict. Examples of current embargos in place are the embargos placed on Sudan and Cuba by the United States.
