The text claims that when natural selection occurs, the characteristics of the selected individuals do not change--only the characteristics of the population change. why is this so?

    Natural selection is when organisms adapt to their environment as to produce more offspring. To answer your question this is because organisms can reproduce more therefore the population will rise.
