What were the underlying principles of Hammurabi's code of laws and what does the law code tell us about the kind of society that existed in Mesopotamia at the time?

    That they had a law back then

    The law code seems to explain that Hammurabi's Code was quote, "eye for an eye." The society in Mesopotamia was unforgiving. For the principles, I still don't have an answer for that.
