Explain why a group taking a vote on something is an example of direct democracy

Democracy is the "rule of the people" (from Greek: demos: people,; Kratos: rule) : so the group deciding all together (rather than one of them) is an example of democracy.

It's direct because everyone votes directly on something, rather than represented by someone else.
