How popular sovereignty releates to slavery

    During the slavery period, some countries had the option of choosing whether or not they would have slavery as something legal in their state and this choice would be made using popular sovereignty. That means that people would vote whether they wanted to have slaves or not. There was a huge issue with this when non-slaver states were given this option, because that meant that they could impose slave laws if they wanted to.
