The Chinese philosopher Confucius wrote his ideas on social virtues in five books known as the Cannons of Confucianism. Confucius was a Chinese philosopher, teacher and politician. He was a humanist and founded the school of Confucianism. The reason why he founded this movement is that he was horrified by the extent of the moral decline during the period in which he lived. His aim was to revive the ancient teachings of the wise men who lived in earlier times.
