State Capitals of California

1) San Jose - 13th November 1849 to 1st May 1851 - Two storey adobe hotel. Top floor was for the Assembly and bottom floor was for the Senate.

2) Vallejo - 5th January 1852 to 4th February 1853 - (Temporary location in Sacramento 16th January 1852 to 4th May 1852 because work on building was not finished)

3) Benicia - 4th February 1853 to 25th February 1854 - Two storey brick building with two large rooms for the legislative chambers and many smaller rooms for various committees.

4) Sacramento - 25th February 1854 to present - Two storey wooden building which later was destroyed by fire. New building was built that accommodates a large number of individuals, various offices, and residences for officials and their staff.

5) San Francisco - 24th January 1862 - 15th May 1862 (Temporary location when Sacramento was completely flooded)
