The United States of America is one great example of a country that is transferring ownership from public sector to the private sector. Public sector industries or organizations are huge and requires good funding, but they are owned by the Government. In case of private sector, the ownership is controlled by a private person or a group of people that have no government holding in it. Public sector industries are run by public money and the profitability claimed is also high.
