What is the early Greek life for Plains

The previous answer didn't include the fact that the geograpic shape of the Greek geographic region effectively forced Greece not to exist as a unitary country or an empire such as the Roman Empire. Rather, it was collection of smaller city states which were independent and often waged war against each other as well.
