What problems do people face while under siege?

People, societies, or military forces that are under siege face numerous problems to security and ability to sustain life. Most of the problems associated with being under siege are connected to the inability to acquire or obtain adequate resources like food or water to survive. In addition other essential supplies like medicine or other things essential to life or treating wounded or sick individuals in a society. Today the list is extensive and goes as far as preventing necessary trade and economic exchange to allow a society or group of people to survive and thrive. A siege is usually used as a military tactic to oppress a group of people or military group into surrender or to defeat them outright.
