Soldiers came home to a place where there still weren't any equal rights.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect it was because people of all

races, creeds, colors, religions, and national origins had equal

opportunity to get shot, poisoned, captured, crippled, and killed

during the war, and those that came back alive were not satisfied

to accept unequal treatment and opportunity at home after it was

    over.
