Read this passage about slaves in Greek society, and then answer the question that follows. The ancient Greek society was a mixture of slaves and free people. Slaves did not have any legal rights. According to records found in the General State Archives of Greece, the slaves lived with their owners and were rarely paid. Most slaves were either taken as prisoners of war or were bought as slaves. Some of the slaves were skilled craftsmen, but this did not guarantee pay from their masters. What makes the passage seem credible?
