Were African American truly free after civil war?

    Yes, they were freed from being slaves, but later, discrimination arose. Technically, the slaves were freed, but African Americans were being discriminated.

    Yes they were free but it became worse because they didn't have land, food or money to survive with, and some slaves stayed with there slave owners for all of that, and the slaves who didn't have this stuff had a tougher life than they were with there slave owners or they died of hunger.
