    1) Northern artists were more concerned about making their artworks as colorful and detailed as possible. Italian artists were more concerned about making sure that their artworks reflected scientific principles such as human anatomy.

    2) Northern artists usually painted using oil paints, whereas Italian artists usually painted using tempera.
