Explain why most Hindus are vegetarians?

Most Hindus are vegetarians because they want to avoid causing pain and suffering to other creatures. They believe that there is no big difference between humans and animals and that animals also have souls.

When they do eat meat, they demand that the animals be killed in the most painless way possible. This way is called Jhatka.
