Describe the positioning of Lee's troops, which allowed them to beat the Union army at Fredricksburg.

    Lee had high postions on Marye's Heights and with the new union commander who attacked him not knowing what he was doing Lee won a succesful battle with less than 5,000 casulties

    Lee's troop were blocking the crossing. Because of this strategic position, they were able to buy time for the other troops. It took the Union a lot of time to create a passage. The Confederates who were with Lee were already in their defensive stance. The Union was forced to urban combats against the Confederate defenders.
